Description

The Himalayas stand as a magnificent mountain range resulting from the collision of the Indo-Pakistani tectonic plate with the Asian continent. While the central Himalayan Mountains grace Nepal, their eastern counterparts stretch to the borders of Bhutan and Sikkim.

Nanga Parbat massif serves as the western cornerstone of the Himalayas, a range of peaks rising abruptly, embraced by the Indus and Astore rivers. Known as “Nanga Parvata,” meaning the naked mountain, its original and fitting title is “Diamir,” signifying the king of the mountains.

Nanga Parbat’s main peak soars to a height of 8,126m/26,660 ft, boasting three expansive faces. The Raikot (Ra Kot) face is characterized by the imposing north and south silver crags and silver plateau; the rocky Diamir face gradually transitions into icy fields surrounding the Nanga Parbat peak. The Rupal face stands as the tallest precipice globally. Reinhold Messner, an esteemed figure in mountaineering from Italy, marvels at its sheer magnitude, dubbing it the highest rock and ice wall on Earth.

Discovered by Europeans in the nineteenth century, the Schlagintweit brothers of Munich, Germany, arrived in the Himalayas in 1854, providing the first known depiction of Nanga Parbat through a panoramic view. Our organization’s president, Mr. Ashraf Aman, made an attempt on the peak during his high school years.
